First off... Alexa Land is an amazing and fantastic author.Secondly, her books are THICK and packed with a great story! So you definitely get your money's worth! No skimpy little Novella's here!
Third, This is an EXCELLENT story! Reading it made me want to go back to other books I had bought in the series... I should NEVER have read several of the books in this series out of order, as in reading them out of order I missed a good deal of the fantastic world the author creates for her readers about the continuing stories in this series and reading about the characters, and their friends, and then the friends of friends, and their family, because it really becomes an addiction for any reader.
This is one of the best male romance series of books I've ever read. And this is a great author!
But, once again,The only criticism I have is the same I have for many authors of male romance books, and that is that you don't need to detail each sex scene, and that in reality, people even head over heels in love don't always have sex like rabbits, every chance they get and constantly.
If I wanted to read a porn novel I'd read porn! I don't buy romance novel's to read and get off on! So, I don't want to read detail after detail of continual sexual encounters. It DETRACTS from the messages of real LOVE.
Plus, in this series, there are several books that contain graphic S&M and Bondage detail. I mean... come on... I know that some people are into kinky sex sometimes... But, there's a line... where people really need to get some psychiatric help if they can only get off by inflicting pain or tying someone up in order to feel in control! So, I didn't enjoy those books as much... ie... "Picking up the Pieces" or "All In". The writing and stories of each book of this series are fantastic though, and more than well worth the read.

Funny and absurdly loving and loveable, her characters rock. I am sure her intelliigently written books will last the test of time and become literary classics. This one was an excellent story and it was well-paced. It fits in perfectly with the other books and made me want to go back to the beginning and read the whole series over again. I love the humor she adds into her books. She has a way of making life more palatable, so that I am more cheerful after reading one of her novels and the world seems like a nicer place. I turned on the text-to-speech option on my and listened to this book all day Friday at work in my little factory cubicle. Thanks, Alexa Land. I will have a pleasant reason to look forward to the end of summer now, when the next book with it's little trouble-magnet, blue-haired (super)hero comes out!
(I have gone back and read all Alexa Lands books in order. She could write a phone book and I'd buy it! Incidentally, in "Way Off Plan", the first book in the series, Jaime talks to River about surfing in a casual meeting on the beach. That suggests a positively Napoleonic level of forethought.. Her books just get better every time you read them as the worlds fill in with more detail.)
Update Since reading this book I have become totally spoiled. Having read a ton of other books since this once, they all just seem... not that good, in comparison. ;P
I waited for ages to get this book. And I thoroughly enjoyed it. The characters are great. I like the depth of Vincent who started out not looking too promising but turned into an interesting character in the end with some depth and intelligence. All the characters had something different to add and I particularly liked Skye. I always gravitate toward free spirits. And Trevor was interesting because he was a sweetie and a genuinely nice guy. I liked some of his inner thoughts and ways he handled things.
And there were a few laugh out loud moments. My god the clock incident was hilarious. And Nana's lasagna demonstration had me rolling around in hysterics. I'll have to go and read the rest of the books in the series now. There was just enough of other characters to whet the appetite and not crowd Trevor and Vincent's story. It's a hard balance when you're writing a family series to not put in every single person. But it makes the book top heavy and this wasn't.
I loved the setting too, it's nice to see something set on the West Coast.
All in all, I really loved this book and I'm glad I finally got to buy it. Alexa Lund has an easy style that makes the book one you can get lost in and not put down. I highly recommend this book. Thanks and aloha )
I snag Alexa Land's books as soon as I see she has a new one out, she's been on my auto buy list since book one. I laughed so many times while reading this book. My sister and I were reading it at the same time on our kindles and for 2 days we were texting back and forth quotes from the book and parts were were laughing hysterically at. My goodness Trevor!! What a truly adorable, kind, giving and BRAVE soul... I fell so hard for this boy. And I adored Vincent and so happy he got his boy. I love Nana to death and really love how this author keeps all of her characters in all of her books. Often times with series, an author will start the next book and new MCs and then you hear little to nothing about previous characters. Alexa makes these characters our friends or even our kindle family ) and then she throws new characters in there and you're like wow!! I wanna know more about these guys! ( like TJ and Gianni for example!) I had a perma smile on my face for 2 days while reading this book. Oh and the wedding..... Absolutely brought tears to my eyes only to follow up with one of the funniest scenes in the book, just awesome. Thank you Alexa Land for this series, you are truly a talented author and can't wait for Skye Blue!!!!!
